This documentary uses cine film shot by railway enthusiasts on the Isle of Wight between the 1950s and 1990s.


The programme begins with some 1960s footage showing steam-hauled trains in all their glory before going back to mid-1950s to show some of the island's branch lines before they were closed. More steam sequences are followed by the island's preparations for electrification and the adoption of ex-London Transport tube trains as the main engine and rolling stock. The film concludes with footage of the preserved Isle of Wight Steam Railway.
